Manuel Brown was elected as the Member for Arafura in 2023. In this role, he has worked to deliver better outcomes for his vast and diverse electorate, championing improved housing initiatives and creating local jobs through targeted training and workforce development programs.
Now in Opposition, Manuel holds a range of portfolios focused on protecting and nurturing country, culture and the Territory’s regions. He is a strong advocate for Aboriginal self-determination, building local skills and employment opportunities, supporting a strong, sustainable environment and growing our regions. He also serves as the Opposition’s Party Whip.
Before entering Parliament, Manuel built a career dedicated to serving his community, including in the Australian Army NorForce Regiment and in senior roles with the Bawinanga Aboriginal Corporation in Maningrida, supporting local employment, enterprise development and service delivery. He also worked with Malala Health to improve health outcomes in remote communities, and with the Northern Land Council, advocating for Aboriginal land rights and economic development across the Top End.
A passionate advocate for health, education, housing and improved infrastructure, Manuel is dedicated to delivering for his electorate, which includes the Tiwi Islands, West Arnhem and the world-renowned Kakadu National Park.
In line with the vision of Opposition Leader Selena Uibo, Manuel is deeply committed to making the Northern Territory a better and more equitable place for all Territorians. He is a fierce advocate for ensuring all children - no matter where they live or the circumstances they face - have equal access to a quality education, giving them the best possible chance to thrive.
